It maintains a tonal clarity which a handkerchief cannot achieve and the pad, attached by a simple Velcro system, rests directly on the chinrest and not the instrument. You'll be impressed by the comfort supplied by this foam cushioned pad. It is easily detachable but need not be removed to fit into your case. It is also washable. Strad Pads are highly recommended for students. This model is the black large size.
